Editable grids is an out of box functionality introduced last year for Dynamics 365 CRM the editable grid provides editing capabilities. it also supports business rules and field-level security settings 

Subgrids are best feature throughout Dynamics 365 CRM and can be used effectively.There are a lot of benifits and use cases for this functionality

These editable gris enable you to edit child records without having to open each record individually.

For example, a user can be on a Parent entity form and may wish to update related child records available on it.

below are the features supported with editable grids.

1. Web and mobile clients
2. Navigation with a keyboard or mouse
3. Grouping and sorting
4. you can Filtering subgrids
5. Moving and resizing columns
6. Pagination
7. Lookup configuration
8. Calculated fields and rollup fields
9. you can write Business rules Show error message, Set field value, Set business required, Set default value, Lock or unlock field)

11. Enabling/disabling of cells based on security role

 HOW DO YOU SET IT UP?

Navigate to Settings > Customizations > Customize the System then click on the entity that you wish to enable for editable grids.

2. Click on the Controls tab

3. Click on Add Control and select "Editable Grid"

4. Select where the editable grid should be available: Web, Phone, or Tablet
